Tony graduated from the Auckland Institute of Technology in 1997 with a Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy. After graduating, he worked at Middlemore Hospital before traveling to England in 1999 where he developed an interest in hand therapy while working at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. He then worked in a senior role at the Manukau Super Clinic in hand therapy and St Andrews Center for Burns and Plastic Surgery in England before returning to New Zealand at the end of 2006 and joining the Hands On Rehabilitation team. In 2008 Tony was appointed to manage the Takapuna clinic as well as seeing a client caseload.

Ann Alexander
Physiotherapist and Hand Therapist
Dip Phys, ADP (OMT), Reg. Hand Therapist

Ann graduated from Otago Physiotherapy School in 1982 and completed her post-graduate manipulative therapy at AUT in 1989. Ann has worked on the Shore since 1994. Since 2001, she has worked solely in Hand Therapy. Five years of those were within her own Hand Therapy clinic.

Ann is passionate about Hand Therapy and supporting her patients through their rehab. She uses acupuncture as an adjunct to treatment and enjoys a particular interest in pain management.

Sandra Kettle
Physiotherapist
BHSc (Physio), Reg. Hand Therapist

Sandra completed her Physiotherapy degree at AUT in 2008 and then joined the Hibiscus Coast clinic, where she completed her post-graduate hand therapy qualification, while gaining valuable hand therapy experience.

Sandra is passionate about hand therapy and chose to specialise straight out of University – and certainly the diversity of hand therapy needs in the Hibiscus Coast area has afforded her a wide range of therapeutic experience.

Sandra continues her post-graduate studies balancing this with other opportunities to continue to gain experience.

Louise Moore
Physiotherapist
BHSc (Physio)

Louise graduated from AUT in 2005 with a Bachelor of Health Science (physiotherapy) degree. After graduating Louise worked as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist in Auckland for five years, and during this time furthered her education by completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in 2009.

In 2010, Louise travelled to London and worked for two years in private practice gaining valuable musculoskeletal physiotherapy experience. Louise spent a further year living and working in Melbourne before returning to Auckland in 2013.

Louise joined Hands On Rehab in 2013, pursuing her interest in hand therapy. Louise will complete her hand and upper limb post graduate module at AUT this year to work towards completing her Masters in Health Practice.

Brierley McCarten
Occupational Therapist
BHSc (Occupational Therapy), MNZAHT

Brierley graduated from the Auckland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Health Science in Occupational Therapy in 2000. Brierley gained her early years of experience in hand therapy on the advanced rotation at Middlemore Hospital. From there, she and her husband moved to London to go travelling, which turned into six years of varied work in large teaching hospitals and private companies around London. Brierley’s passion has been around trauma and she has specialised in Burns, Spinal Rehab, Paediatrics and Hand Therapy.

At the end of 2010, Brierley returned to New Zealand and returned to Middlemore Hospital as Section Head therapist of Occupational and Physiotherapy for Burns, Plastics and Paediatrics. Brierley is a competent experienced splint maker. During this time Brierley completed the Hand and Upper Limb Therapy module at AUT and is now completing additional papers to complete her postgraduate certificate. Brierley jumped at the opportunity to join Hands On Rehabilitation in November 2011, and is working as a Hand Therapist as well as Occupational Therapist for graduated return to work programmes and workplace assessments from our Takapuna clinic.

Jaime Peacock
Business and Support Services Team Leader

Jaime joins the Hands On team as Business and Support Services Team Leader for the Takapuna, Albany and Red Beach clinics. Jaime has most recently been in the public health sector, managing the training and employment of junior clinicians in the DHBs, where she gained experience in a variety of operational, management and human resource roles.

Prior to public health, she worked in the travel, engineering and recruitment industries in administrative and consultative capacities. She also enjoyed advancing her career whilst living in England and Wales.

Jaime enjoys spending spare time with her young family and is currently completing an extramural conjoint degree in Human Resource Management & Psychology.

Glenda Williams
Receptionist / Administration

After graduating from the Auckland School of Radiography in 1984, Glenda spent 4 years at Greenlane Hospital where she completed her post-graduate year. She then travelled abroad to Europe for several months and returned to Radiography in Auckland's' private sector. Glenda gained experience covering a wide field of different Radiographic areas and techniques. Glenda worked particularly in the acute setting in the Accident and Emergency area becoming Charge Radiographer of a private after hours clinic on the North Shore.

Glenda took time out of the work force to spend with her young, growing, family. When returning to the workforce Glenda took up an administrative role at a Specialist clinic in the private sector. Glenda joins the Hands On Rehabilitation team at Takapuna providing reception and administrative services Monday to Thursday.

Fiona Fox
Receptionist / Administration

Fiona lives locally with her husband and three of their four combined children, and is proud to say she was born and bred on the Shore. Prior to joining our team, Fiona spent 15 years in the banking industry, the majority of which was in Business Banking. When not behind the desk at Hands On, Fiona divides her time between her family’s business, renovating their family home and standing on the side line of her son’s many sports. Fiona joins the Hands on Rehab team at Takapuna, providing part-time Reception and Administrative support.

Kirsty Neal
Physiotherapist
BHSc (Physio), BSc (Sport Sci), PGDip Teach, Registered Hand Therapist

Kirsty completed a Bachelor in Health Science (Physiotherapy) degree from Auckland University of Technology in 2009. During her studies she gained valuable experience observing and work alongside one of our local, respected orthopaedic hand and upper limb surgeon's. Following graduation Kirsty worked in both a musculoskeletal physiotherapy clinic and hand therapy at Hands On Rehab. In 2011 Kirsty completed the hand therapy training program to become registered hand therapist.

Kirsty returns to Hands On Rehabilitation after spending a couple of years in Tauranga juggling life between being a mother and working in a local Hand Therapy clinic.

Kirsty also holds a degree in Exercise Science, a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching and has seven years experience running her own business as a massage therapist. In addition to this she is also a qualified clinical Pilate’s instructor.

Angela Hardy
Physiotherapist and Hand Therapist
BHSc (Physio), Reg. Hand Therapist

Angela graduated from Auckland University of Technology in 2000 with a Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy. In the two years that followed, she worked at Middlemore Hospital in a variety of areas, and having developed a passion for Hands, became a senior therapist working in both Hand Therapy and Burns & Plastics. In 2003 Angela joined the team at Hands On Rehabilitation at our first Forrest Hill clinic.

Since then she has had the opportunity to travel and work in England - enjoying positions as a hand therapist at both Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London and St Andrew’s Hospital in Essex. Angela has taken a break from the workforce to spend time with her young family. She has rejoined the Takapuna clinic and is now enjoying working in a part-time capacity.

Katie Salter
Physiotherapist and Hand Therapist

Katie graduated from the Auckland University of Technology, gaining her Physiotherapy degree in 2000.

Gaining experience in a wide range of specialities, Katie spent her first few years as a physiotherapist at Middlemore Hospital before developing a special interest in hand therapy. Katie then went on to work in both hand therapy and outpatient physiotherapy departments on the beautiful Central Coast of NSW in 2003, where she was part of a team which worked to develop an integrated hand therapy service. During this year, Katie also completed the Hand Therapy training programme, to become a registered hand therapist.

Since then, Katie has worked at Hands On, with one year back in Australia in a busy private hand therapy department working closely with several hand surgeons as well as in the community setting furthering her hand therapy experience.

Katie now works part time and is a mum with a busy wee girl.
