Hands On Rehabilitation @ Work

We already manage the acute and rehabilitative phase of hand therapy and with the addition of a vocational rehabilitation component we are well placed to provide a comprehensive, seamless rehabilitation service.
Our existing close relationships with general practitioners, hospital providers and specialist surgeons allows easy discussion facilitating client recovery and rehabilitation whilst maintaining a worker role, or minimising time lost from work and ensuring safe work practices.

Vocational Rehabilitation
The Stay at Work service, recently developed by ACC, is an exciting new initiative which we feel fits well with our treatment philosophy at Hands On Rehabilitation @ Work. It allows for accurate early assessment of clients needs and therefore supports recovery within the work place.
Hand Therapists are in many cases the first or second point of contact for hand injured clients and we are a potential factor in determining clients’ attitudes and expectations regarding their return to work.
All our therapists are trained specifically in the assessment, management and rehabilitation of upper limb conditions and injuries. They have detailed knowledge of healing time frames, optimal guidelines for conservative management, surgical intervention and post operative rehabilitation protocols. This knowledge means they are able to make informed recommendations for an achievable, sustainable return to work.
The open nature of our hand therapy clinics facilitates sharing of information and combined rehabilitation planning between hand therapist, client and vocational providers. We are able to modify therapy to specifically benefit work behaviours and tasks. We have the capability for early identification and removal of obstacles, in particular the identification of non-work, non-physical, social factors that may hinder client outcome or expectations. |
