Telehealth

Not every appointment needs to happen in a clinic.

Telehealth video consultations allow us to assess, advise and guide your treatment without you needing to travel to a clinic. For many conditions and stages of recovery, a video appointment is just as effective as coming in person.

Who telehealth works well for?

• Patients who live a distance from one of our clinics
• Follow-up appointments that do not require hands-on treatment or splinting
• Patients who are unable to travel due to their injury, illness or other circumstance
• Post-surgical check-ins and progress review
• Exercise and home programme review and progressio
• Return-to-work discussions and goal-setting
• Patients who want a hand therapy opinion before deciding on next steps

What we can do via telehealth?

A telehealth appointment can include:

• a full assessment of your condition
• a diagnosis where possible
• advice and education, exercise prescription
• home programme review
• planning around your recovery and return to normal activity.

Some things do require an in-person visit, including custom splint making, hands-on manual therapy, and wound or scar management.

If we need to see you in clinic, we will let you know when you book.

What you need?

A smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone is all that is required. A stable internet connection helps. We will send you a link before your appointment. No special software to download.

If video is not possible, phone consultations are available, though video allows us to assess your hand and demonstrate exercises and techniques more clearly.

Fees

Telehealth appointments are charged at the same rates as in-clinic appointments.

ACC-funded appointments:

ACC telehealth funding is available to patients within our contracted Auckland and Northland regions.

If you are outside these regions, you are still welcome to book as a private patient.

Private appointments:

Available to patients anywhere in New Zealand.
